Courage on Little Round Top: historical fiction
Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain stumbles down the steep rocky slope of Little Round Top. His charging regiment cheers as the Rebels turn on their heels and flee, all except one. Second Lieutenant Robert Wicker stands his ground, raises his Colt, takes aim at Chamberlain's head, then fires. Courage on Little Round Top is a chronicle of the unlikely events that brought these two brave soldiers face to face in a fierce battle that remains a vital part of America's history. Courage on Little Round Top sold out its first edition. Skyward Publishing has moved into documentary filming making and are no longer publishing books, so they returned to me the publishing writes to the novel. I'm in the middle of my next Civil War novel and once it is finished, I will be looking for a new publisher for both novels.
I was very pleased about the overall positive reviews Courage received including ones from the Washinton Times, CHOD-FM radio, and the Center for the Study of the Southwest. There are also 22 reader reviews on Amazon.com
Clear the Bridge: screenplay based on Clear the Bridge by Rear Admiral Richard O'Kane
The USS Tang was one the most successful US submarine in World War II sinking Japanese shipping at a rate faster than any of our other subs. Returning from a patrol off the coast of the Japanese homeland, the crew expected the next patrol would be easier, but with the promise of refit in San Francisco, instead they accepted a patrol to the shallow waters of the Formosa Strait to support General Mc Arthur's invasion of the Philippines. With their first 22 torpedoes, Tang sank 12 enemy ships. As she closed, on the surface at night, a damaged ship with her last torpedoes ready to fire, excitement filled the boat, they were going home. The next torpedo doomed the Japanese ship. Her last torpedo malfunctioned circling back and dooming the Tang. Nine men survived to tell the heart wrenching story of Tang's last patrol.
I'm very disappointed to report that my option on Clear the Bridge expired without me being able to get any attention for my screen play. The story of the Tang is one of the best true stories I've ever read and with the state of modern special effects could be one of the best war films ever made.
